Never said it's god aweful (awful grammar) long.
Fixing laggy computer = impossible on a laptop. The only thing you can do is add more RAM, but that not always helps.
Besides, if you CAN make it faster, then why not? Same as why they added the "Character Select" option under F12 - so people don't have to relog all the time. You may say "oh it's only 5-10 seconds you are lazy". EVERYONE is lazy. If people weren't lazy, there wouldn't be TV remotes. Or cars, or bikes, or ships or Internet or anything at all. Because sooner or later, we could do anything those things can do, only few hundred times slower.

I can definitely see demand for this when you play PvP and shuffle slots between team members as needed. The apparent problem is that when you create a character you must choose a number of options based on profession and for that you need an interface. The interface is already implemented and you use it in character creation. Now, to streamline that a 'profession template' would be required. Like a skill or equipment template, loading one would automate the process of logging out, deleting the character in question, making a new character with the options defined in the template and finally logging in with the newly created character and moving it to where the previous character was before the reroll.
There is a deeper problem which makes it impossible to switch primary profession 'on the fly' and hence you'll have to go through the logoff-delete-create-login cycle in any case, a template would just make it instantaneous. Pointing to Razah being contemplated as a free-primary hero is irrelevant. Heroes are not treated the same as players internally (for starters, your character has a permanent unique existence on the servers whereas heroes are essentially anonymous, created and destroyed as needed and their individual qualities (level, skill bar, armor type and runes, equipment) are part of your character's extended data structure).

Have you forgotten that people who play efficiently often make shields for all damage types and cripple, 40/40 and 40/20/20 sets, sundering, vamp, elemental and all of those other weaponsets? When you're doing that, it takes a while, and when it takes a while, a team you're going to join grabs somebody else.
/Signed. I don't see any downfall to it. I somehow doubt that it isn't possible, however.

No.
Simply no.
I simply do not care if it saves you a few minutes (hell, it would save ME minutes also when I remake guys) as long as I need to re-buy ALL the skills I already unlocked previously on my new PvE characters - variable PvP primaries are not on my priority list.

this has nothing to do with being lazy
it is a true idea of a pvp char.
what SHOULD happen is instead of wasting char slots for pvp or always rerolling 1 pvp char slot.
you have the ability to perma-assign a char slot to pvp. that char slot is UAX char profression. you log in a name that you cant change, ie A Scrub Pvp. if you want to change profession, you just go to the skills tab and change your preffesion from the drop down menu. im sure anet can create a coding that allows the server to update your char look to the basic default necro/monk/war look. obviously its done for heros when you load them in and out of a party menu. and its not like anyone looks at your face...if they do....well tell them to go look at porn or something.
this allows for better use of time and faster group forming. all you need is 8 players on pvp chars, they reform whatever profession they need via templates and you go in. no more "so and so is rerolling hell be back in a few mins"
